LAKE OLOIDEN CAMPSITE; NAIVASHA
My obsession with lakes must be apparent by now; and there’s no stopping until I’ve slept by all their banks.
I did a group travel with a couple of friends to a lake that’s hardly known, Lake Oloiden which I have featured in passing before.
We started with some grocery-shopping when we got to Naivasha. We ended up under-estimating the amount of charcoal we needed. By the following day, charcoal was our biggest need, seeing as it would translate to food. The beauty with Naivasha is that the road trip is a game experience in itself. We spotted giraffes, gazelles, warthogs and hippos which shared the lake with us.
Our tent was set up for us on the first row of the lake.Pre-dinner snack prepared by my friend..
Lots of team work for dinner preparation.
When we woke up the following morning, all our cooked ugali and meat was gone! Monkeys! I have experienced this before and it hurt just as much as it did the first time. Monkeys are so self-entitled. However, the good views were a good consolation.
Breakfast.
Afternoon boat ride.On our way back to Nairobi we passed by the country club.
I am a young Kenyan seeking to encourage Africans to tour their continent and create their own perspectives about the motherland. View all posts by akenyannomad

Heey! A great read and insightful piece on camping in Naivasha!
Bit worried about life jackets on the boat:(
Are they provided? Looks risky to ride without one😐

I’m sure they would provide if asked. I agree this was risky.
